Things That Brightened My Weekend, Episode 8

Scottish Week - an annual 'gala week' event - kicked off in Peterhead on Saturday...

So, of course, it had to rain..

But every cloud has a silver lining and all that ..and sometimes it's remarkably pretty:

Besides that, my weekend has largely revolved around a visit from some people i haven't seen since i was 6 years old.. And that certainly wasn't yesterday!

This woman and her daughter were neighbours of our family way-back-when and a good friend of my mum's. They've kept in touch all this time, but haven't seen each other in 18 years. 18 years is a mighty long time (three quarters of my life!) and i was anxiously expecting a day of awkward conversations and cringe-worthy silences.

It turned out to be the exact opposite. It was an afternoon of reminiscing, story-telling, "sightseeing", coffee drinking, dinner eating, photo taking and lots of hugs.

What a lovely way to spend a weekend!

  2. What a fab way to spend a weekend! Sounds so good. I love it when you reconnect with someone you haven't seen in a long time, and it's as if no time has passed.

Your rainbow photo is really something.
